| Family Arena Makes Pollstar Magazine Top 100 List - September 10, 2009 |
Concert and music industry magazine Pollstar has released its list of the “Top 100 Worldwide Arena Venues” for January 1 through June 30, 2009. And, for the first time ever, the Family Arena has made the prestigious list. With 74,541 tickets sold in the first half of 2009, the Family Arena ranked 90th worldwide and 48th in the nation.
Family Arena Director, Steven R. Rosenblatt commented, “We are thrilled to be in the same company with world class venues such as The O2, the Sprint Center and the Allstate Arena. The vast majority of facilities on this list have capacity potentials that are two to three times greater than our own. For a venue of our size to make such an esteemed list is truly an honor.”
Venues Today, a leading international trade publication that covers the business side of entertainment and sports, has also singled out the Family Arena for recognition. In the category of facilities with capacities of 5,001 - 10,000, the Family Arena was ranked 15th in the nation for gross revenue for the first half of 2009.
“As a mid-sized arena,” Rosenblatt said, “it is incumbent upon us to seek out and nurture new events. Tours such as Billy Joel/Elton John and U2 obviously require facilities that are physically larger. For us to succeed, we need to create and/or find new and interesting programming. We can no longer wait for it to fall into our laps. In this economic climate it’s important to provide unique entertainment at reasonable prices.”
