On June 15, the fifth annual St. Charles LGBTQIA+ Pride Festival will be held at The Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri with free on-site parking. The day will begin with St. Charles County’s first LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade down Historic Main Street. The parade is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by the St. Charles Pride Festival from 12 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Both events will focus on family-friendly entertainment and education, providing an opportunity for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to celebrate and share resources.
This family-focused event is designed to align those in need of support with resources and organizations within their own community. Last year’s festival was well attended with more than 17,000 attendees.
“Celebrating our five year anniversary, we are excited to make history with the first St. Charles Pride Parade, themed “Reflections…Looking Back, Marching Forward.” This being the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall, it’s important to remember where the community came from while marching forward as we work towards equality for all,” said Beth Finder, President of Pride St. Charles.
New this year: St. Charles Pride Parade themed “Reflections…Looking Back, Marching Forward.” The festival will also host a variety of new activities including a mobile escape room. Pride St. Charles will also be giving out $2,000 in scholarships through a collaboration with Missouri Courage Scholarship program.
Pride St. Charles will be hosting a wedding for the fourth year. The wedding contest winners were chosen via an essay contest and are featured on the Pride St. Charles Facebook page.
Festival and parade participants include local and state dignitaries, and other public officials. Live entertainment goes all day on the mainstage, two drag shows, doggie drag show, photo booth, Balloon Brigade, pet adoption area, free on-site STD testing, and more. Nearly 120 businesses and organizations will have booths, several food vendors will be available throughout the day, as well as a large youth village including inflatables, arts and crafts projects and more.
